Atamko hit hey sukh, so sukh aakulta-vin kahiye;
aakulta shivmahi n tatay, shivmug lagyo chahiye.
samyagdarshan-gnaan-charitra shiv, mug so dwivid vicharo;
jo satyaarth-roop so nischay, karan so vyvharo.   1.


Nature of true (nishchay) correct belief-understanding-conduct

nishchay samyagdarnshan-gnaan-charitranu svaroop


pardravyantey bhinn aapmey roochi, samyaktva bhala hai;
aaproop ko janpno so, samyaggnaan kala hai.
aaproop mey lin rahey thir, samyagcharit soie;
ab vyavhar mokshmug suniye, hetu niyat ko ho.   2.


Nature of apparent (vyavhar) correct belief

vyavhar samyaktva (samyagdarhsan)nu svaroop


jiv ajiv tatva aru aasrav, bandth ru samvar jano;
nirjara moksh kahey jin tinko, jyo ka tyo sardhano.
hai soie samkit vyavhari, ab in roop bakhano;
tinko sun samanya visesh, did pratit ur aano.   3.


Types of Jivs; Characteristics of outward-looking soul and high inward looking soul

jivna bhed, bahiratma ane ootam antaramanu luxan


bahiratam, antaratam parmatam, jiv tridha hai;
deh jivko aek ginne bahiratam tatvamudha hai.
ootam madhyam jagan trividh key antar-atam gnaani;
dwividh sangbin shudh oopyogi, muni ootam nijdhyani.   4.


Characteristics of intermediary and lower inner-looking souls and ideal soul with physical body.

madhyam ane jaghanya antarama tatha sakal parmatma


madhyam antar-atam hai je, deshvrati angari;
jaghan kahe avirat samdasti, tino shivmugchari.
sakal nikal parmatma dwavidh, tinmey gathi nivari;
shree arihant sakal parmatma, lokalok nihari.   5.


Characteristics of ideal soul without physical body; Advice to become inner looking soul by always contemplating/reflecting on ideal soul.

nikal parmatmanu luxan ane parmatmana dhyanno oopdesh


gnaanshariri trividh karm-mal, varjit siddh mahanta;
te hai nikal amal parmatma, bhoggai sharm ananta.
bahiratmta hey jani taji, antar-atam hujai;
parmatma ko dhyay nirantar, jo nit anand pujai.   6.


Characteristics and types of lifeless substances - physical material (pudgal), "dharm" and "adharm" substances.

ajiv-pudgal, dharm, adharm dravyna luxan ane bhed


chetanta-vin so ajiv hai, panch bhed takay hai;
pudgal, panch varan-rus gandh-do, farus vasu jakey hai;
jiya pudgalko chalan sahai;, dharm dravya anuroopi;
tistat hoy adharm sahai, jin bin-murti niroopi.   7.


Characteristics of space (aakash) and time (kaal) substances; Characteristic of essence of impure (aasrav) state.

aakash, kaal ane aasravna luxan athva bhed


sakal dravyako vas jasmey, so aakash pichano;
niyat vartna nishi-din so, vyavhar kal parimano.
yo ajiv, ab aasrav suniye, mun-vach-kai triyoga;
mithya avirat aru kashay, pramaad sahit oopyoga.   8.


Advice to reject impurity (aasrav); characteristics of bound state (bandh), start (samvar) and increase (nirjara) pure natural soul state.

aasravtyagno oopdesh ane bandh, samvar, nijaranu luxan


ye hi atamko dukh-karan, tatey inko tajiye;
jiv pradesh bandhey vividhso so, bandhan kabhu n sajiye.
shum-dumtey jo karm n aavey ; so samvar aadariye,
tap-baltey vidhi-zaran nirjara tahi sadaa aachariye.   9.

sakal karmtai rahit avasta, so shiv, thir sukhkari;

dev jinendra, guru parigrah vin, dharm dyanjuut saro;
ye hu maan samkitko karan, astdh-ang-jut dharo.   gatha 10

vasu mudh tari nivari trisdtha shut anayatun tyago;
shankadik vasu dosh vina, savegadik chit pago.

vin jantai dosh gunan ko, kaise tajiye gahiye.    11.

samyaktvana aadth aango (gurn) ane shankaadi aadt doshonu luxan


jin vachanmey shanka n dhar vrush, bhav-sush-vancha bhanai;
muni-tan malin n dekhe dinavai, tatva kutatva pichanai.
nij gurn aru par avgurne dankey, va nijdharm badavai;
kamadik kar vrushtai chigtey, nij parko su didthavai.   12.
dnarmi so goi-vacch-pratit sam, kar jindharm dipavey;
in gurntai viprit dosh vasu, tinko satat khipavai.   13(purvardh).





8 faults of arrogance/vanity

mud namna aadth dosh


piita bhup va matul nrup jo, hoy n to mud dhanai;
mud n roopko mud n gnaanko, dhan balko mud bhanai.   13(utarardh).
tapko mud n mud ju prabhutako, karai n so nij janai;
mud dharai to yahi dosh vasu, samkitko mal dhanai.   14(purvardh).



6 faults of praising and 3 faults of worship

chhah anayatan dosh ane tran mudhta dosh


kuguru-kudev-kuvrush-sevakki, nahi prasansh ucharai hai;
jin muni jinshrutvin kuguradik, tinhai n naman karey hai.   14(utarardh).


Even correct believer of self without vows is worshiped by heavenly beings; Correct believers disinterest in ordinary life

avrati samaygdrastini indra vageyreyni puja ane gruhasthparnma apriti


dosh rahit gurn sahit sudhi je, samyagdarsh sajai hai;
charitmohvash laish n sanjam, pai surnath jajai hai.
gehi, pai gruh mey n rachai jyo, jaltai bhin kamal hai;
nagarnariko pyar yatha, kadey mey hem amal hai.   15.


The significance of correct belief; The bound-life states that a correct believer does not enter; Root of all happiness and natural conduct.

samyaktvano mahima, samyagdrastina anutpatistan tatha sarvootam sukh ane sarvadharmnu mool


pratham nurk vin shut bhu jyotish van bhavan shunt nari;
thavar vikaltrai pashumey nahi, upajt samyaktdhari.
tinlok tinhukal mahi nahi, darshan so sukhkari;
sakal dharmko mul yahi iis bin karni dukhkari.   16.


Invalidity of knowledge and conduct without correct belief.

samyagdarshan vina gnaan ane charitranu mithyapanu


mokshmahalki pratham sidi, ya vin gnaan charitra;
samyakta n lahey, so darshan, dharo bhavya pavitra.
'Doul' samaj sun chet sayane, kal vrutha mut khovai;
yha narbhav fir milan kadtin hai, jo samyakt nahi hovai.   17.
